The Okutama fishing center in Ome city is a managed fishing spot that takes advantages of the nature of Tama River. Trout is released at the fishing spot, so beginners to advanced people can enjoy fishing at an accessible spot. The items needed for fishing are rented or sold; rods, foods, lures, etc. So you can come to the facility empty-handed. It is also very popular to BBQ where you can eat the fish you catch. This time, we came on the day where they held an inauguration ceremony where a facility where people with disabilities can also enjoy. Hinohara Village of the four seasons" is known for the top 100 waterfalls in Japan. At the entrance of the fall, you can enjoy dishes made from local ingredients. The popular and recommended dish would be the "Hiruge (Midday meal)", which on holidays will generate a long queue for. Hiruge is a lunch made with ingredients procured on the day, so the dishes change from day to day and because of the limited ingredients used, it always gets sold out. All things are handmade, even from stock. The dishes made by the local housewives reminisce a taste of home, with an authentic seasoning to be served at a restaurant. I am very full from experiencing a lot of the local ingredients. We were able to enjoy the facility with everyone!

"Mori no Uta" enjoys woodworks and freshly brewed coffee made with Tama products. The husband and wife of the owner said that they were originally developing a car engine, and said why don’t we change from machinery to woods? The wood works which the owner makes is very cute, practical and filled with creative ideas. Such as the small bird-shaped shoehorn. Also, we are focusing on activities to spread Tama products. The "Hinohara Mobile" jointly developed a Toy museum in Yotsuya which is gifted to all babies born in Kashihara. I was able to experience and listen to the passion which the owner has and the delicious coffee his wife makes.

Here’s another Tokyo short trip
A trip to experience the nature of "Okutama"

"Experience" the nature of Okutama with your whole body! It was a fun trip to discover new attractions in Tokyo.

In this trip, I was able to "experience" the nature of Okutama. The local people have a lot of feelings and thoughts to protect nature, and I was able to feel the charm in nature as well as the local town. I hope to come back to stay in the Okutama area rather than a day trip.
