vol.4 Volcano and Fishing island vol.4 Volcano and Fishing island

About the same size as the inside of Yamanote Line in Tokyo, Miyakejima Island is rather compact and known for its volcanic island. A fairly active volcanic island that erupts every 20 years, You can see the marks around the island. Also known as one of Japan's leading fishing spots, it is said that everything around the island is a fishing point. This time will be reporting the charms of Miyakejima Island, and find out more about this nature's rage next to our city.

Access to Miyakejima Island

You would usually take an airplane or boat to Miyakejima Island however, you can also take a helicopter from Oshima! This time I moved slowly on a large passenger ship. Impressed by how the island gradually appears! The blue sea and the breeze is very pleasant~

Here’s another Tokyo short trip
Volcano and Fishing island "Izu Island / Miyakejima Island"

Undefeatable even by the volcanic eruptions The blessings of nature and the people has been supporting the food and future of Miyakejima Island.

You can find buildings which were filled with volcanic ash or affected by the lava from the previous eruption, also giving an impacting image of nature's power. However, the island people always looked for their future, and they prospered in the fishery and agricultural industries. I felt that I would like to support not only Miyake but also the important players who support food in Tokyo.
