Sake from this brewery has been familiar to people as local sake of Okutama in Tokyo for over 300 years since it was established in 1702. The Sawai district of Ome City, where Sawanoi sake was created, is home to one of Japan’s famed mineral waters that runs cool and abundantly. The brewery will keep making high-grade sake as long as there is rice in Japan and famed mineral water in Okutama.
The garden near the Tamagawa River is from the makers of refined Sawanoi sake, Ozawa Shuzo Co., Ltd. The direct sales shop handles not just Japanese sake, but also sake manju and pickled wasabi. You can also take a tour of the Sawanoi storehouse (reservation required) or enjoy a blind tasting or meal.
