Komatsuna (Japanese mustard spinach) grown in Adachi Ward, which has a history of being presented to the Tokugawa family of shoguns (the head of the military government during the Edo period (1603 – 1868)), has come to be loved under the alternative name adachina. Dried udon and pasta have been created using adachina in collaboration with the traditional noodle making culture. The pictures on the packages show a stylish Sukeroku and elegant Agemaki, the protagonist lovers in an Edo-period play who died together and to whom a double grave is dedicated in Adachi Ward.
